About this shed
What The Mower Shed is, who writes it, how an entry is put together.
The Mower Shed is an independent editorial reference on how a golf course is kept: the grass, the water and soil under it, the shop where the machines are maintained, and the work of the season. It is written for the people who do that work, for the player who wants to understand what the mower did that morning, and for anyone who keeps a smaller piece of turf and wants the same method at garden scale.
This desk is not a club and not a shop.
Where the material comes from
The research method is public documents: the green section publications of the United States Golf Association, the soil surveys and wetland material of the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the extension publications of the agricultural universities in turf growing states, the service literature of mower and irrigation manufacturers, and the wetland programmes of state environmental agencies. Nothing is invented, no figure is guessed, and a number that no source gives is left out.
What this shed keeps
The site keeps four working areas: turf and greens, water and soil, the shop, and the course. Entries are numbered inside their area, so a reader can follow one line of work over a season, and the numbers stay stable when an entry is revised.
